The time has come for me to tell you about my most-beautiful girlfriend. I met Amanda Cox about a year ago at (where else?) the open gym volleyball at the student rec center. We have been together, depending on the reckoning, for about two-and-a-half months. One would think that I would have already posted about her during those two-and-a-half months, wouldn’t one? Well one would be wrong. My apologies. Amanda is an undergrad here at KU and is studying film and journalism. She comes from Leawood , Kansas (nearby). As I have mentioned previously, I am now officially being paid to be a Teacher. That is, I am being paid to be a Teacher’s Assistant (TA). I teach two classes worth of Biology 203: Microbiology Lab. Both classes are very good classes, and I rather enjoy teaching the kids. The micro labs are kind of odd in that they use two TAs per lab, one graduate and one undergraduate, and we take turns teaching. The graduate TA tends to teach the more “complicated” lectures and grade the more “important” papers. Below is a picture of me with one of my undergraduate TA co-workers (dig the blue lab coats!) This class is a Tuesday-Thursday class at 9:30 , and my co-worker’s name is Alisha. As many of you may remember, my little sister’s name is also Alicia. According to my regular schedule, I should have posted something on Saturday. As it turned out, however, I spent essentially my entire Saturday pursuing cinematic excellence. You see, it was the day before the Oscars, and the AMC movie theater down the highway in Olathe was having this special event where you could watch all five of the Academy Award Best Picture nominees, all in one day, all in a row! And the best part about it was that with the price of admission you got unlimited free popcorn!!! I daresay, I held up remarkably well, considering that I was sitting for almost twelve hours straight, staring at a large screen and consuming nothing but popcorn and soda. In fact, I probably could have sat and watched another five movies in a row, no problem. Here is a little something that I did not know about the University of Kansas. I figured that if I did not know about it, you probably did not know about it either. I also figured that if I found it interesting, you would also find it interesting. This is probably where I made my mistake. Anyhow, the point is- take a look at the University of Kansas' official seal: You may not be able to tell, due to the low resolution, but the seal is entirely a picture of Moses kneeling before a burning bush. Kind of cool, I thought, although I did not know how it applied to KU. I read on KU's website that fire was supposed to be a symbol for knowledge, and that Moses kneeling was supposed to be a symbol for humble learning. I am happy to report that I am no longer a poor, camera-less individual. I got an early birthday present, as my order from Amazon.com arrived one day before my birthday. Here is a quick update of Adam’s life. First and foremost, I am happy to announce that I bought a brand new digital camera, and that it should be arriving here anytime soon. Then, there will be no more un-illustrated posts! Hooray! Secondly, life at present is fairly busy, thus the fair delay in posting. I will attempt to restart my pre-holiday schedule starting today. Third, a quick, superficial look at how my California Holiday Vacation went. (In which Adam complains about his busy life and broken camera) I sure am behind schedule on these postings of mine. I would like to blame it all on my ‘busy’ schedule. I would also like to blame it all on the fact that I don’t have a good camera to use. It’s much more fun putting together a post when I can use good pictures (that weren’t taken six months ago when my camera last worked). This will be my last post of the year, and maybe I will have a new unbroken camera by the next time I post something.
